GCI announces completion of system upgrade for Hercules Offshore, Inc.

GCI announces that it has delivered a 4 X 4 SCR and Generator control lineup to Hercules Drilling for installation on location in the Gulf of Mexico, USA.  The lineup was delivered as part of a rig upgrade to replace the existing legacy DC-DC control system.  Additionally, custom 480VAC switchgear was manufactured to accommodate increased load requirements associated with the upgrade.  All installation and commissioning was conducted on location eliminating the need for a shipyard availability. Our ability to coordinate with rig operations while remaining on location was the major obstacle in successfully completing the successful conversion.” commented Jack Vanvleit, President of GCI.
